Laurent said he liked spicy food. We had intended to bring him to Bedok 85 but he complained a 40 minute travelling time was way too far so we just had to settle dinner in town, a 15 minute walk from his apartment. DARLING, YOU CAN FLY TO THE
HOT AND HUMID MALAYSIA AND BANGKOK FOR SCUBA DIVING, BUT YOU CAN'T TAKE THE TRAIN AND BUS TO TASTE SOMETHING YOU MIGHT NEVER EVER GET TO AT LEAST FOR THE NEXT DECADE????? My gosh. But we
wurvve you, so we give in to you. (=

I brought them to
Crystal Jade at Scotts Picnic to eat ramen!! I was pushing the sour n spicy ramen to Laurent, and told him all about the wonderful xiao long bao where soup and meat were contained in one dumpling. As it was dinner-time, we had to queue and take numbers to get a table. I don't think the Europeans have such a number-taking culture in their country, cos Laurent was already annoyed we had to wait and he was eager to take the slip of paper to see which number we had gotten.

While we waited in the restaurant for our table, the waitress was periodically calling out numbers in mandarin as and when a table was available. Laurent got excited so I was telling him in english what were the numbers being called out. When I said, "oh it's 23 already", Laurent shouted at the waitress, "24!! 24!!".
I BURST OUT LAUGHING.
I immediately looked at Liang, and his lips were crooked. I think Liang wanted to laugh, but guy must maintain 'xing xiang' (think image).
Waitress: Er shi san, er shi san (23, 23)!
Athena 2 Laurent: (squeals excitedly) Oh it's 23 already!!
Laurent: Twenty-four, twenty-four! (looks at waitress and says real loud)
Athena: (astonished and bursts out laughing) Laurent! We don't do that in Singapore!!
Laurent looks at Athena laughing away and continues to look eagerly at the waitress.Athena looks at Liang who is ready to break into a laugh anytime. Athena: Oh don't worry she will call our number when it's our turn!
Waitress: Er shi si, er shi si (24, 24)!
Athena: Ah ok our turn liao our turn liao!
Laurent
shot out of his seat.

We ordered chinese tea. Laurent didn't like the bitter taste. I told Hui Hui ang-mohs are prolly only used to drinking flavoured teas like camomile, lavender, rosehip, hibiscus. I told Laurent the chinese tea helps in digestion and clearing toxins. But I did not mention it makes you run many times to the loo as well.

Laurent ordered the sour n spicy ramen. We also got xiao long bao and wanton soup to share. I was busy stuffing Laurent with food the entire time. Think such chinese food is quite an eye-opener to him: clear soup, spicy sauce, minced pork, parsley, hand-made noodles, meat dumplings etc.

Laurent insisted on using chopsticks to eat his noodles, but I told him the metal fork and spoon would prolly be much more convenient for him. He attempted the chopsticks, fingers were everywhere, got annoyed, and I shoved the fork and spoon to his hands. He was happy after that!
I commented that he appeared to be eating a new kind of 'Chinese' pasta.
Laurent and I told Liang he doesn't ever look at the camera directly when posing for photographs. Haha I know Liang don't like to take pictures but he did it for the sake of Laurent de, so sweet (=
After dinner we went to the supermarket to get milk - to make pancakes!! Laurent's real huge on food la!! Do you know the French word for pancakes is 'crepe' (pronounced as crap)?? Crap crepe crap crepe crap crepe???
Laurent made 7 pieces of pancakes. His way of enjoying? A rich spread of Nutella on the pancake, roll it up, and indulge. Quite crepe style hor.
I hope Laurent enjoyed his stay in Singapore. I'm sure he will cos we're such a bunch of delightful people. Delightful people who speak so fast with lors lars wors des bas mehs mahs that he has difficulty understanding what we're saying, noisy Ru and I always screaming at an unsaved file when the labtop battery dies out on us.
Will catch him again this weekend before he flies to the country of chocolate Belgium.
